Mayor’s Message

Trout River sits on the west coast of Newfoundland surrounded by the world class UNESCO designated Gros Morne National Park. We are situated literally “at the end of the road” of Route 431, 86 kms from Deer Lake International Airport.

Settled in 1812 by the original Crocker family of George Crocker our community has fashioned a living from the sea and land. Today, we are proud to continue to protect our traditional way of life, harvesting the sea and land alike. Our town has a large population of children and youth. Indeed our population’s average age is less than 35 years. Our Jakeman All Grade school boasts a stable student body population.

While you visit our scenic and friendly hamlet, take time to chat with fishermen, purchase home knit products directly “over the fence” and explore our heritage properties while walking the local roads, trails and beach boardwalk.

Enjoy!!!
